Licence CC Flickr / Coopératique, launched in 2008 and maintained by the company Academia, is an American social network aimed at researchers.

This site is geared towards scientific communities (researchers, academics, students) from all disciplines. Internet users must sign up to access the content.

Article uploads are the main aim of the site which also:

puts people in touch,

enables research work to be monitored,

facilitates the exchange of knowledge.

It is worth noting that although this site has an “.edu” domain name, a private company manages the site.

The site advocates open access/open science and encourages users to share their knowledge by uploading research work or work references.
