Python: from language basics to language use started on Monday 3 November. You can still register up to 23 November. The course ends on 21 December.
“This MOOC is for experienced programmers who wish to find out about and improve their knowledge of Python as well as for newcomers to programming at the level of a degree in the sciences, in other words who have basic computing knowledge, are familiar with certain mathematical concepts such as variables and functions, understand algorithms and are good at abstract thinking.”
The course content of this MOOC has been developed by Arnaud Legout and Thierry Parmentelat, Researcher and Research Engineer at Inria respectively.
The course lasts 7 weeks and requires about 5 hours of study a week. It covers the following topics:
- Week 1: Introduction and first steps
- Week 2: Types of database
- Week 3: Shared references and iterators
- Week 4: Functions
- Week 5: Modules, classes and naming spaces
- Week 6: Designing iterators and managing exceptions
- Week 7: Advanced issues
